Growing up in Sacramento, CA, Dr. Michelle Tieu’s love for animals all started with Disney’s The Lion King and her first pet, a parakeet named Paulie. It wasn’t until she enrolled in college animal physiology that she realized veterinary medicine could offer her a unique combination of her passion for science and animals. Soon after, she graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 2011 with a major in general biology and minor in biologic anthropology. She worked at a small animal/exotics practice in La Jolla, CA to gain more clinical experience just before starting her studies at Western University of Health Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with Phi Zeta honors in 2016.

Dr. Tieu then moved to Escondido, CA and recently completed an intensive small animal specialty internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital, San Marcos.
